Airsoft pistol magazines are classified primarily by their propulsion type—Green Gas, \(CO_{2}\), or Spring/AEP—and typically hold between 15 to 30 BBs. Proper maintenance, including regular valve lubrication and storing them with a small amount of gas, is vital to prevent leaks and ensure reliable feeding.
Magazine Types
- Green Gas: The most common type for blowback pistols. They feature a fill valve on the bottom and hold liquid gas alongside the BBs. They require regular silicone lubrication on the O-rings.
- \(CO_{2}\): Uses easily replaceable 12g \(CO_{2}\) capsules housed directly in the magazine. These offer higher, more consistent power in colder weather but put more wear on internal pistol parts.
- Spring & AEP (Electric): Found on budget spring pistols or Automatic Electric Pistols. These use a simple internal coil spring and hold 15 to 30 BBs.
